tile
Tile that stays watertight.
Tile showers, walls, floors, backsplashes, tub surrounds. Schluter waterproofing on every wet install. LVP and self-leveling underlayment when the bathroom job needs it.
Pricing: Standard shower install $4,500–$9,000 depending on tile choice and size. Backsplashes $35–$75/sqft. Floor tile $12–$20/sqft installed. LVP $5–$8/sqft installed.
Tile work is judged at the inch level — and homeowners in Alexandria, Fergus Falls, and Sauk Centre deserve installs that hold up. Crooked grout lines, uneven cuts, mismatched grout color, and skimped waterproofing all show up the day after install. We do tile slowly enough to get it right.
What we install
- Shower walls and floors with full Schluter waterproofing
- Tile walls — wainscot, accent walls, tub surrounds
- Tile floors — bathrooms, mudrooms, laundry, kitchens
- Tub surrounds
- Kitchen backsplashes — including herringbone, mosaic, large-format
- Heated floor systems (Schluter Ditra-Heat)
Related capabilities in the same scope
Most bathroom and mudroom remodels need more than tile — so we handle those too as part of the same job rather than coordinating a second trade:
- LVP (luxury vinyl plank) installation when the room calls for vinyl rather than tile — waterproof, durable, and a clean companion to tile work.
- Self-leveling underlayment when a subfloor isn’t flat enough for tile or LVP. Older Minnesota homes almost always need it; skipping it is the most common cause of cracked tile and gapped vinyl seams.
If you’re planning a bathroom remodel and don’t know whether you want tile floor or LVP, we can walk through both at the estimate.

Common questions
- Why Schluter waterproofing?
- Schluter Kerdi is a bonded waterproof membrane that goes behind the tile. It's the gold standard for shower waterproofing — done right, you'll never see water damage in the framing. We use it on every wet install.
- Porcelain vs ceramic tile?
- Porcelain is denser, harder, less porous — better for floors and high-wear areas. Ceramic is fine for walls and backsplashes. Cost differs less than people think; the install labor is the same.
- Can you tile over existing tile?
- Sometimes — but usually we recommend tearing out and starting clean. Tiling over old tile adds height that can interfere with door clearances and trim, and you inherit any waterproofing problems underneath.
- How long does a shower tile install take?
- Most shower installs run 4–7 working days: demo, waterproofing, tile, grout, sealing. We don't rush cure times — that's where waterproofing fails.
- How much does shower tile installation cost?
- A standard 3x5 ft shower alcove runs $4,500–$7,000 installed, including demo, Schluter waterproofing, and mid-range tile. Large walk-in showers with niche and bench run $7,000–$12,000+. Tile selection is the biggest variable.
- Do you source the tile or do I buy my own?
- Either works. We can source tile through our supplier accounts, or you can supply your own. Bring the product (and 10% overage) to the consultation and we'll confirm substrate requirements and coverage.
- Do you install LVP flooring too?
- Yes — LVP (luxury vinyl plank) is part of most bathroom remodels we do, and we install it standalone as well. Waterproof, scratch-resistant, and a good companion to tile work in the same job. Runs $5–$8/sqft installed.
- What about self-leveling underlayment?
- We use self-leveling underlayment (cementitious pourable floor) whenever a subfloor isn't flat enough for tile or LVP — common in older homes and remodels. It's a critical prep step. Without a flat substrate, tile cracks and LVP develops gaps at the seams.
- Do you serve the Alexandria and Fergus Falls area?
- Yes — tile is one of our most common remodel services in Alexandria, Osakis, Sauk Centre, Fergus Falls, Perham, Glenwood, and Battle Lake. We also serve Little Falls and St Cloud for tile projects. Free estimate.
- What's a workmanship warranty on tile?
- 1-year workmanship warranty. Covers grout cracking, tile debonding, and waterproofing failures attributable to installation. Does not cover tile cracked by structural movement.
